About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer to join a team building and operating a next‑generation, cloud‑native lottery platform. The platform is containerized and microservices‑based, with a React front end, Node.js services, and a MySQL data tier deployed through automated CI/CD pipelines onto Kubernetes. You will work across the full delivery lifecycle — design, implementation, automated testing, deployment, and production support — for a high‑availability, real‑time transaction system.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain React front‑end applications and Node.js microservices.
- Implement RESTful APIs, integrate downstream services, and build service‑to‑service interfaces (REST/JSON and message/event‑driven patterns).
- Design and optimize MySQL schemas and queries for high‑volume transaction processing.
- Containerize services with Docker and maintain Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts across environments.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipeline definitions, automated tests, and quality gates to support frequent, low‑risk releases.
- Build operational and regulatory reports using enterprise reporting tools and web reporting frameworks.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, testing, certification, and documentation for regulated jurisdictions.
- Diagnose and resolve production incidents using observability tooling (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting); participate in on‑call rotation as required.
- Contribute to secure development practices: secrets management, least‑privilege access, audit logging.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with increasing responsibility.
- 2+ years building web applications with JavaScript/TypeScript, including React on the front end and Node.js on the back end.
- 1+ year working with a relational database (preferably MySQL).
- Practical experience with Docker, Git, and CI/CD tooling (automated build and deployment pipelines).
- Familiarity with microservices architectures and container orchestration (Kubernetes) is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills & Preferred Experience
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills; deep React experience (components, state management, hooks, responsive UI).
- Solid Node.js server‑side development: REST API design, auth, integration patterns.
- Very strong SQL skills: schema design, indexing, query tuning, stored procedures.
- Experience containerizing and operating workloads on Kubernetes; knowledge of Helm, config maps, secrets, and service discovery.
- Familiarity with testing tools (Jest, E2E frameworks) and front‑end build tooling/package management.
- Observability and DevOps practices: structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerting.
- Experience with Linux/UNIX environments and command‑line proficiency.
- Additional languages (Java, C/C++, Python, shell scripting) are a plus.
- Experience building or operating real‑time, high‑volume transaction systems or regulated software is an advantage.

- 6% 401(k) match
- Paid holidays and vacation
