What You’ll Do
You will join a small, agile Scrum team delivering new software and sustaining existing baselines for mission-critical systems. Typical responsibilities include:
- Design and implement backend and tooling services using Java and/or Python
- Develop and maintain containerized applications with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation (build, test, deploy)
- Work in an AWS cloud environment and integrate cloud services into systems
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and occasionally extend C/C++ components as needed
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and technical planning
- Contribute to system design, object-oriented architecture, and software lifecycle activities
- Produce clear documentation and use version control effectively
- Travel occasionally (approximately 10%) for program needs
Who We’re Looking For
Candidates who can thrive on fast-paced development teams and have a strong fundamentals background:
- 2+ years professional software development experience (Bachelor’s in CS or STEM preferred)
- Proficiency in Java and/or Python; familiarity with C/C++ is a plus
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for containerization and orchestration
- Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native system design
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and practices
- Comfortable working in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment
- Strong mathematics and algorithmic problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of object-oriented design and software development lifecycles
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter within a small team
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Top Secret / SCI clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI with CI-Poly)
- Experience with mission management algorithms and Proliferated Mission Management (PMM) framework
- Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or similarly regulated sectors
Work Location, Schedule & Clearance
- This position is 100% onsite in Morrisville, NC — telecommuting is not available.
- 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off).
- Travel: approximately 10% of the time.
- Clearance: No clearance required to start, but candidates must be U.S. citizens and be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI with a Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly) within a reasonable timeframe as determined by the client.
Compensation & Benefits
- Primary level salary range: $87,600 – $131,400 per year.
- Salary is a guideline; final offers consider experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
- Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and other incentives depending on role.
- Benefits typically include health insurance, life and disability coverage, retirement/savings plans, paid holidays, and PTO. Specific benefits are provided by our client.
