What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Software Engineer (Junior) to help design, build, and test software used in cyber intelligence and defense applications. You will work from specifications and designs to implement reliable, maintainable code, support integration and test activities, and contribute to tools and subsystems that improve software reuse across projects.

  • Implement, test, and debug software components based on formal specifications and design documents
  • Collaborate with engineers and systems teams to analyze system requirements and recommend design approaches
  • Contribute to software tools and subsystems that support reuse and domain-specific development
  • Use formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and CASE tools to document and validate designs
  • Participate in code reviews and continuous integration / testing activities
  • Learn and apply secure coding practices appropriate for classified/cyber environments

What We’re Looking For

This is an entry-level role; recent graduates are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning new tools and paradigms quickly.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn
  • Basic programming experience using top-down, event-driven, or object-oriented paradigms
  • Familiarity with web servers (Apache, IIS, JBoss, Tomcat) and developing web-based interfaces is a plus
  • Exposure to Linux, Solaris, AIX, Windows, or virtual machine environments is helpful
  • Interest in cybersecurity, network operations, or related IT disciplines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph — REQUIRED
  • U.S. citizenship — REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, OR four years of additional relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Approximately 6 months experience (classroom, internship, or professional) in at least one of the following:
    • Computer Network Operations (firewalls, IPsec, PKI, VPNs)
    • Business process / document / case / customer-relationship management products
    • Cloud technologies, data tagging, or mobile application technologies
    • Administering web servers or developing web-based interfaces
