What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer (Contractor) to join a product team in Johnston, IA. You will work with other software engineers and analysts to design, code, test, and deliver features for a defined portion of a product. This role is focused on learning and growth; work and decisions are reviewed by supervisors.

• Develop, configure, and test application code to deliver features of varying complexity
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, and other engineers to ensure features meet business needs
• Participate in Agile software development ceremonies and follow industry-standard practices
• Document implementations and follow required development processes
• Troubleshoot issues and provide internal user support as needed

Qualifications (Required)

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• 1–3 years of professional programming / software development experience
• Hands-on experience with web technologies: JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Experience with frameworks/libraries such as React and jQuery
• Experience with C# and ASP.NET or demonstrated ability to learn similar frameworks
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Familiarity with Agile development practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work on a team and handle competing priorities

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with AWS or cloud services
• Familiarity with Visual Studio 2022, GitHub, SourceTree, or Sublime Text
• Prior experience supporting internal users or performing data analysis
• Exposure to software enhancement design and performance optimization

Compensation & Employment Type

• Employment Type: CONTRACTOR
• Pay Range: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour (USD)
  • This range is provided in good faith and aligns with the source posting. Final pay may vary based on experience and location.

Location & Work Authorization

• Location: Johnston, IA — this role is based in Johnston, Iowa. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to work in or relocate to Johnston if the role requires on-site presence.
• If any remote or telecommute options are available, they will be communicated during the hiring process.
