What You’ll Do
This internship offers hands-on software engineering experience on complex defense and space systems. As a Software Engineer Intern you will work on a fast-paced agile team to assist in the requirements, design, development, integration, testing, and documentation of software used in mission-critical systems.
- Assist and participate in requirements, design, development and testing of application software and tools.
- Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
- Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other professionals across Engineering.
- Work on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations following established software development practices and configuration management processes.
What You’ll Learn
- Real-world embedded and real-time systems development practices.
- Use of modern development tools, DevOps methods, and testing frameworks.
- Exposure to digital signal processing, machine learning/autonomy, and cyber security concepts as applied to defense systems.
- How to work on cross-disciplinary teams delivering production software for government customers.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline and be enrolled through the completion of the internship session.
- Must have a minimum of 60 hours of college credit by the internship start date.
- Experience with C, C++, or Java.
- U.S. citizenship is required — candidates must be eligible for a U.S. government security clearance and able to obtain an interim clearance prior to start.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Knowledge of C/C++ programming and structured programming concepts.
- Experience with object-oriented design and UML.
- Familiarity with statistical and numerical methods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environments.
- ABET-accredited program preferred but not required.
Location, Schedule & Clearance
- This position is onsite in Marlborough, MA.
- Internship is full-time for the specified summer session.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (Secret) is required prior to start. U.S. citizenship is required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD (good-faith estimate covering the range of experience levels). Exact pay will depend on role, experience, education, and other factors.
