Role Overview

This is an on-site Software Engineer internship with a Confidential Client in the Software Development industry, based in Brentwood, CA. As an intern you will work closely with senior engineers to design, build, and maintain backend services and application features. This is a hands-on role intended to accelerate your practical skills in modern software engineering and production workflows.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with the engineering team to design, implement, test, and ship backend features.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and server-side components.
• Fix bugs and improve system reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code; participate in code reviews.
• Integrate third-party APIs and internal services.
• Create and update technical documentation and run basic monitoring/debugging tasks.
• Learn and follow version control, CI/CD, and deployment best practices under senior mentorship.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Coursework or hands-on experience in software development with at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C#).
• Familiarity with back-end development concepts: RESTful APIs, server-side frameworks, and database interactions.
• Understanding of object-oriented design and modular, reusable code.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Comfortable using Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to code quality.
• Able to work on-site in Brentwood, CA and communicate effectively with cross-functional teammates.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or containerization (Docker).
• Exposure to testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Prior internship or project experience building backend services.
• Familiarity with performance tuning or database optimization.
