What You’ll Do

This role contributes to the design, development, and operation of a research-focused software platform that manages large-scale microscopy image data and AI inference pipelines. You will work on back-end services, front-end interfaces, and supporting utilities; participate in testing and CI/CD; and help deploy and maintain services in production.

  • Provide functional and empirical analysis for the platform’s backend, frontend, and utility tools
  • Design and implement REST APIs, scalable backend systems, and relational database schemas for large imaging datasets
  • Integrate, deploy, monitor, and maintain AI/ML inference services in production with attention to performance and reliability
  • Build automated test coverage and CI/CD pipelines; collaborate on monitoring and reliability engineering
  • Evaluate technical and architectural alternatives and make informed recommendations within your area of responsibility
  • Document technical designs and decisions; participate in code reviews and regular team meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (applicants with equivalent experience may be considered)
  • 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Practical experience with full‑stack web development (backend + frontend), REST API design, and relational database modeling
  • Experience integrating and deploying AI or machine-learning inference services in production
  • Familiarity with version control, code review workflows, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and reliability best practices
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to make independent technical decisions

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working with large scientific or imaging datasets (e.g., microscopy image platforms)
  • Background in performance tuning, scalable storage systems, or distributed processing
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment patterns, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability tooling
  • Prior exposure to research or academic environments and collaboration with domain scientists
