Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer focused on Insider Risk within their Global Security Organization. You will work on detection engineering and automation to identify, triage, and remediate insider threats at scale. This role partners across engineering, product, and security teams to design high‑fidelity detections, build investigation tooling, and implement automated containment and remediation workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain detection logic to identify insider-risk behaviors with high precision and low false-positive rates.
• Build and own automation tooling and workflows that accelerate investigations and enable rapid remediation.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to scope technical remediations and improve security posture (for example, remove unnecessary secret exposure or redesign workflows).
• Perform code reviews, root-cause analysis, and contribute production-ready code for security systems.
• Maintain compliant data flows and secure automation access across global regions.
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in security production-readiness reviews and help secure the SDLC where applicable.

Minimum qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one of: Python, Golang, or TypeScript.
• Demonstrated experience with SQL for data analysis and signal development.
• Familiarity with application security principles and secure coding practices.
• Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
• Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• 3+ years of engineering experience (production systems preferred).
• Experience designing detection systems or detection engineering for insider threats, fraud, or abuse.
• Experience building automation to support investigations, containment, and remediation.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, OCI, or similar).
• Experience performing security production-readiness reviews and securing components across the SDLC.
• Familiarity with signals related to deceptive or manipulative online behavior and threat actor patterns.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills; able to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Compensation & benefits

• Employment type: Full-time
• Base salary (San Jose, CA): $162,000 — $316,800 annually.
• This role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses, incentives, and equity (where applicable).
• Typical benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, parental leave, disability and life insurance, paid holidays, sick days, and paid personal time (details vary by location).
