What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer in Test (SET) to own release-quality, validation, and release execution for a production software platform. This role focuses on building and operating test automation, CI/CD validation, and release gates to ensure safe deployments to production environments, including Azure-based infrastructure.

• Own and drive the quality strategy for front-end and back-end systems (TypeScript, React, Next.js, Python) and cloud deployments (Azure).
• Define and maintain test plans, acceptance criteria, and release gating requirements.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites and validation pipelines integrated with CI/CD.
• Execute smoke, regression, and system-level validation of release candidates.
• Serve as release authority: approve or block promotion of release candidates to production.
• Triage issues found during validation, perform initial investigations, and escalate to engineering teams as needed.
• Support deployments to Azure, monitor health after release, and perform initial incident response.
• Partner with robotics, automation, and production engineers when software impacts physical production cells.
• Continuously improve testing tools, observability, and release workflows to scale with the platform.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience developing automated tests and test frameworks.
• Proven ability to write test scripts or test code and debug across software and automation interfaces.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and release-validation workflows.
• Strong problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing industrial automation, robotics, or hardware-software integrated systems.
• Familiarity with Azure deployments and cloud monitoring/troubleshooting.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Python in a testing or automation context.
• Background in small, fast-moving engineering teams where quality ownership is shared.
• Prior experience acting as a release gatekeeper or release manager for production systems.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $140,000 - $165,000 per year (range provided for California locations). Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

• This position is based in Los Angeles, CA. Candidates should be able to work onsite or in a hybrid model if required by our client’s production and deployment needs.
