Role Details
Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead API and webservices testing efforts on a contract (W2) engagement. This is an onsite role in San Antonio, TX. You will drive test strategy, build automation with Selenium, and mentor testers to ensure high-quality delivery of APIs and web applications.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage API/webservices testing activities for the project team.
- Define and implement test strategies, plans, and comprehensive test cases for APIs and web interfaces.
- Build, maintain, and execute automated test suites using Selenium and related frameworks.
- Perform API functional, performance, and integration testing using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, and JMeter.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with DevOps to enable continuous testing.
- Review code and test artifacts; collaborate closely with developers to identify and remediate defects early.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior testers and SDETs.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide clear testing status and risk updates to stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot complex issues in API/webservice behavior and report actionable findings.
Must-have Qualifications
- Proven experience in API / webservices testing and test lead responsibilities.
- Strong Selenium automation expertise for web UI testing.
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI) and performance testing tools (JMeter).
- Familiarity with CI/CD integration for automated tests and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Solid understanding of SDLC and testing processes (functional, regression, integration).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead testing teams.
- Authorized to work onsite in San Antonio, TX for a W2 contract engagement.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Prior experience in an IT Services or IT Consulting delivery environment.
- Experience designing test frameworks or building reusable automation libraries.
- Familiarity with test reporting and defect-tracking tools.
