What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer II focused on test automation to join an engineering team building test frameworks and tools for classified defense systems. In this role you will design, develop, and maintain test automation software, collaborate with systems, hardware, and test engineers, and help drive automation best practices across programs.
- Develop test automation software, test suites, frameworks, and testing GUIs for complex, classified programs
- Analyze, design, code, and modify software (primarily in C++ and Python) to support system- and subsystem-level test automation
- Evaluate software designs to identify defects and propose improvements
- Prepare and maintain design and project documentation following established processes
- Work in a Linux-based development environment and integrate with CI/CD and collaboration tools
- Participate in cross-company technical interactions and adopt modern engineering practices
- Grow toward subject-matter-expert responsibility for reusable test automation frameworks
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience
- Approximately 2 years of related professional software engineering experience (per the job level)
- Solid object-oriented design and implementation skills
- Proficiency with Python scripting for automation and test development
- Experience developing on Linux-based systems
- Willingness to perform a variety of related engineering tasks across the project lifecycle
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance or one that was active within the last two years
- Experience with Modern C++ and Python used together in test and product code
- Prior experience developing or maintaining shared test automation frameworks
- Experience building or maintaining graphical user interfaces used for testing
- Agile development experience and familiarity with sprint-based workflows
- Experience with CI/CD and collaboration tools such as Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or GitLab
- Experience with containers (Docker, Podman) or Kubernetes
Compensation & Benefits
Full-Time Salary Range: $79,365 - $134,921 (USD, annual). This range is based on market pay structures; actual offers depend on factors like location, experience, and internal equity.
