Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking a Software Engineer II with an active, transferable U.S. Government Secret clearance to join an on-site product development team in El Segundo, CA. This role focuses on real-time and embedded software development using C++ and related tooling on Linux and RTOS platforms.

What You’ll Do

• Support all phases of the software development lifecycle for new and legacy military and commercial programs: concept, requirements, design, development, integration, test, and maintenance.
• Design and develop real-time software applications primarily in C++.
• Integrate software with system and hardware components in lab/test environments and on target platforms.
• Collaborate closely with Systems Engineers and cross-functional teams to produce solutions that meet operational and user requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex system and software integration problems and provide creative, practical solutions.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum product development activities where applicable.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (or equivalent) AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with C++ design and development on Linux, VxWorks, or other real-time operating systems.
• Experience developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++.
• Proficiency with scripting for development/test automation (Shell, Perl, or Python).
• Active and transferable U.S. Government Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Additional coding experience in C, C#, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience working with physical hardware in lab environments (test benches, simulators, hardware-in-the-loop).
• Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and legacy codebases.
• Familiarity with Agile product development and Scrum practices.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range (good-faith estimate): USD 75,800 – USD 144,200 per year. The range provided represents possible compensation across experience levels; actual offers consider role responsibilities, experience, location, education, and skills.
• Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, parental leave, and other programs depending on business unit and employment terms.
• Relocation assistance may be available.
