Role overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer II to help design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and data services that power fleet safety, driver coaching, analytics, and operational insight. This role reports to engineering leadership and works closely with Product and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, production-grade systems supporting mission-critical customer experiences.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain client-facing applications and backend services across the Driver Risk Management platform
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following engineering standards and best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across distributed systems and integrated services
- Participate in and lead code reviews and contribute to technical documentation
- Work across traditional and agentic development workflows, using AI-assisted coding tools thoughtfully to accelerate delivery
- Collaborate with Product, QA, and Operations on feature delivery, system enhancements, and deployments
- Deploy and support code changes using CI/CD pipelines
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making
- Drive continuous improvement of development processes, observability, and reliability
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Gemini Code Assist)
- Experience designing and operating services on AWS and with cloud infrastructure
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for provisioning and managing cloud resources
- Understanding of data processing frameworks and distributed systems
- Familiarity with modern web technologies, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures
- Experience using version control, feature branching, and collaborative development workflows
- Ability to write maintainable code and clear technical documentation
- Working knowledge of security best practices for software development and deployment
- Experience working in Agile development environments preferred

Compensation & Additional Pay
- Base salary range: $100,000 – $115,000 per year (pay depends on experience and qualifications)
- Additional compensation: Annual bonus (where applicable)

- Hybrid role based in Saint Louis Park, MN. Regular in-office collaboration is expected.
