Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer II to design and build backend services that power high‑scale, consumer‑facing payment experiences. You will join an Agile engineering team working on Java-based microservices, RESTful APIs, and data access layers that support millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and microservices using Java.
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs following API design and security best practices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code (unit and integration tests).
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases and design efficient data access patterns.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate on user story analysis, technical design, and sprint delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues, analyze logs/metrics, and contribute to reliability and performance improvements.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor peers to raise engineering standards.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies and practices to solve business problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline — or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience, preferably building backend services with Java.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, HTTP, JSON, and web services fundamentals.
• Experience with relational databases and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Experience or familiarity with source control and CI/CD tooling (Git, Jenkins, or equivalent).
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across product, design, and architecture teams.
• Eligible candidates may be considered for visa sponsorship depending on business needs and legal considerations.

Compensation

• Estimated salary range: $89,250 – $150,250 per year (range provided by our client). Final offer will consider experience, location, and other job‑related factors.
