Position overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer II (.NET/AWS) for a 4-month contractor engagement based in Birmingham, AL (hybrid — onsite ~3 days/week). The role focuses on developing, deploying, and maintaining .NET-based applications hosted on AWS, troubleshooting system issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in the development, installation, and configuration of new and existing applications and systems.
- Design and deploy application enhancements and new features for .NET-based systems.
- Monitor and test system performance; detect and resolve malfunctions and performance issues.
- Create documentation and reports outlining findings and recommended solutions.
- Collaborate with other developers, programmers, and technology professionals to meet project goals.
- Support deployment and configuration tasks in AWS environments.
- Work with some independence; escalate complex issues to senior engineers or managers when needed.
Who We’re Looking For (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience with:
- .NET Core and .NET Framework
- ASP.NET
- React.js
- AWS (services used for application hosting, deployment, and monitoring)
- Source control workflows (Git; familiarity with GitHub + Copilot is a plus)
- Proven ability to conduct system analysis and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables with intermediate executional capabilities.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted developer tools.
- Prior experience in IT Services / IT Consulting environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code in AWS.

- Pay rate: $50.00 - $59.00 per hour
- Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States
