About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer II — Mobile Apps to design, build, and maintain mobile applications that support medical device products. You will work on end-to-end software that connects wearable medical devices to mobile apps and backend services. This is a hands-on engineering role for a pragmatic problem-solver who values quality, collaboration, and regulated-product rigor.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, debug, and unit-test mobile applications and components for iOS and/or Android.
- Build and maintain integrations with REST and SOAP APIs and local mobile databases.
- Develop in Android Studio or Xcode and own features from design through release.
- Collaborate with system and software architects to interpret and implement software requirements.
- Provide constructive design and code review feedback to peers.
- Work closely with quality assurance and systems teams to ensure end-to-end product reliability pre- and post-release.
- Participate in agile/scrum rituals and contribute to continuous process improvements.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and implement robust solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (or advanced degree with 0 years).
- Experience developing and maintaining complex mobile applications (iOS or Android).
- Proficiency in at least one of: Flutter, Dart, Java, Kotlin, C/C++, Objective‑C, or Swift.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of mobile database operations and local data storage patterns.
- Experience integrating mobile apps with REST/SOAP APIs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently on features and components with minimal guidance.
Nice to Have
- Experience with mobile application security (certificate pinning, TLS/SSL).
- Hands-on experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- Cross-platform experience (Flutter).
- Experience working with remote teams and in regulated industries (medical devices preferred).
- Experience producing and maintaining technical documentation (design docs, UML/class diagrams, sequence diagrams).
Location & Work Model
- This position is hybrid: on-site 3 days per week in Los Angeles, CA (Confidential Client location).
- Candidates must be able to work from the Los Angeles area per local employment requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range for Los Angeles, CA: $97,000 - $165,000 USD (base salary).
- Actual compensation will vary based on experience, education, certifications, skills, and internal equity.
