What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a mid-level Software Engineer II to help build, maintain, and evolve the web advertising platform that powers monetization across its consumer-facing digital products. You will work on client-side advertising SDKs, web ad integrations, analytics, and performance optimization across high-traffic web and video experiences.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance web-based advertising solutions and client-side SDKs
- Build scalable, modular, high-performance software supporting video and display advertising, analytics, and measurement
- Integrate and maintain third‑party ad technologies (e.g., Google Ad Manager, IMA, FreeWheel) and partner APIs
- Troubleshoot cross-browser, device, and environment issues; debug complex production problems
- Collaborate with product, design, QA, and external partners to deliver and iterate on features
- Contribute to code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD, and engineering best practices
- Optimize app reliability, performance, and user experience; measure and improve Core Web Vitals
- Develop subject-matter expertise in digital advertising, video monetization, and modern browser APIs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Typically 2+ years professional software engineering experience building modern web applications
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and deep understanding of client-side application development
- Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, browser APIs, and client-side architecture
- Experience integrating third-party SDKs, platform services, or APIs into production applications
- Familiarity with video playback technologies and web media applications
- Experience with Git and modern CI/CD and automated testing workflows
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-optimization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication; experience working cross-functionally
- Regular on-site attendance a minimum of 3 days per week is an essential function of the position. Selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with ad tech platforms such as Google Ad Manager (GAM), IMA SDK, FreeWheel, Prebid
- Experience building or maintaining client-side SDKs or shared libraries
- Familiarity with video streaming technologies (HLS, DASH, MSE, EME)
- Knowledge of ad standards (VAST, VMAP, OMID / Open Measurement) and IAB specs
- Experience optimizing for Core Web Vitals and high-traffic consumer web applications
- Background in media, streaming, or advertising monetization
Compensation & Benefits
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $92,000–$145,000 annually. Final offer will depend on education, skills, experience, and location. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and offers benefits including medical/dental/vision, insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with plan documents.
Location
Los Angeles, CA — this role requires regular in-office presence (minimum 3 days per week).
