Software Engineer II
The Software Engineer II at Confidential Client is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing full-stack software systems for advanced aerospace applications. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to build and maintain internal web applications, REST APIs, and real-time features, ensuring high code quality and integration with enterprise services. What You’ll Do
You will join a cross-functional engineering team building internal web applications and services that support advanced aerospace and national-security systems for our confidential client. This is a hands-on full-stack engineering role focused on delivery, reliability, and clean design.
- Design, develop, and test full‑stack software components (frontend, backend, APIs).
- Build and maintain REST APIs and real‑time features (WebSocket) for internal tools.
- Implement frontend interfaces using TypeScript/JavaScript and modern frameworks (React).
- Develop backend services using Node.js and/or other supported languages (C++, Java, Python).
- Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and ORMs to design and evolve data models.
- Containerize applications and support deployment to Kubernetes via the team’s GitOps pipeline.
- Integrate with enterprise services and third‑party APIs (SSO, calendar, messaging, AI/LLM providers).
- Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize performance; participate in code reviews and maintain documentation.
- Contribute to requirements, specifications, and testing practices to ensure high quality.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of software development experience.
- Proficiency in one or more of: C++, Java, or Python.
- Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript; experience with React and Node.js.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Familiarity with version control (Git), testing practices, and code review workflows.
- Comfortable collaborating in multi‑disciplinary teams and agile environments.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Hands‑on experience with HTML/CSS, SQL, and scripting (Python, Bash).
- Experience with PostgreSQL and ORMs (e.g., Prisma, Drizzle).
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes deployments (Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD).
- Exposure to integrating with AI/LLM providers and related APIs.
- Experience with CI/CD, artifact repositories, static analysis, and automated build tools.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum preferred).
- Strong understanding of data structures and computer science fundamentals.
Essential Functions & Work Environment
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and perform detailed coding and testing tasks.
- Fine motor skills for keyboard/mouse use.
- Hybrid work model with some on‑site presence; occasional travel may be required.
- This role may require background checks and/or security clearance processes consistent with federal contracting requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
Estimated Starting Salary Range: $94,345.12 - $129,724.54. Compensation depends on skills, experience, education, and geographic differentials. This role is based in Lone Tree, CO and complies with state pay‑transparency requirements.
