Role Overview
Confidential Client (Aerospace & Defense) is hiring a Software Engineer II (Java, C++) to join a development team in Tewksbury, MA. The role contributes to design, development, integration, and testing of complex software used in Battle Management, Command & Control, Communications, Effectors, and Surveillance and Warning systems. You will work on cross-disciplinary teams in an agile environment to deliver secure, high‑quality solutions supporting national security initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Design, implement, integrate, and test software components using C++, Java, or C#
- Collaborate with Systems and Integration Test Engineers to analyze requirements and validate system functionality
- Participate on integrated product teams (IPTs) following agile software development practices
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects to maintain system reliability and performance
- Document designs, implementation details, and test procedures per project standards
- Contribute to process and quality improvements across the team
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant software development, integration, or testing experience
- Hands-on experience with C++, Java, or C#
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance required prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship required (clearance eligibility)
- Experience working in agile teams and collaborating across engineering disciplines
Preferred / Valuable Experience
- Experience with systems integration and system-level testing
- Familiarity with software configuration management and basic CI/CD workflows
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in complex software systems
- Good written and verbal communication; ability to document technical work clearly
