What You’ll Do

This embedded/avionics software role supports development, integration, test, and maintenance of aircraft mission and display software. Responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test software components for aircraft embedded systems with a focus on reliability and real-time performance.
  • Collaborate with software and systems engineers to produce solutions aligned with end-user and operational needs.
  • Support full software development lifecycle activities — from requirements through design, implementation, integration, verification, and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software using industry-standard tools to ensure product integrity.
  • Participate in engineering reviews, documentation, and configuration management activities.
  • Contribute to CI/CD and DevSecOps practices to improve build, test, and deployment processes.

Qualifications — Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience, plus typically a minimum of 2 years of relevant software engineering experience (unless local law/regulation states otherwise).
  • Hands-on experience with software requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
  • Proficiency in one or more of: C++, C#, Ada, or Python.
  • Experience developing in Windows environments.
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (classes, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation).
  • Familiarity with Git for source control.
  • Experience applying DevOps / DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and modern development methodologies.
  • Experience with software systems design, integration, and debugging tools.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing software for embedded, high‑criticality real-time operating systems (e.g., GHS INTEGRITY, VxWorks).
  • Background in safety‑critical software/firmware and associated processes (MIL‑STD‑882E, DO‑178, DO‑254, DO‑330, etc.).
  • Experience with timing analysis, optimization for real‑time operation, and synchronization across software modules.
  • Familiarity with networking and avionics protocols such as Ethernet and MIL‑STD‑1553 and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, AltaView).
  • Driver-level or hardware interface experience (TCP/IP, UDP, serial, USB, PCI).
  • Experience with communications libraries and tools (DDS, ZeroMQ, TSS).
  • Experience with graphics libraries and tools (OpenGL, VAPS XT, GL Studio, SCADE).
  • Working knowledge of Agile development using Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, and a collaborative mindset.

Location & Work Type

  • This is a 100% onsite role in Indianapolis, IN (confidential client site). Commuting or relocation is the candidate’s responsibility unless relocation assistance is provided.
  • Role classification: Onsite — employees will work primarily at the assigned facility.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range (good-faith estimate): 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD per year.
  • Relocation eligible.
