About the Team & Role

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer II to contribute to backend services that power large-scale media distribution and content operations. This role focuses on backend engineering with exposure to frontend work, production incident response, integrations with third-party SaaS, and cloud infrastructure on AWS.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and production incidents.
  • Investigate system anomalies, perform root-cause analysis, and implement production fixes.
  • Maintain and document application architectures and upstream/downstream dependencies.
  • Support integrations involving REST APIs, microservices, and third-party SaaS platforms.
  • Design, develop, and enhance backend services and application functionality.
  • Participate in peer code reviews to ensure security, efficiency, and maintainability.
  • Monitor application performance, scalability, and platform health.
  • Follow CI/CD and deployment processes to support reliable releases.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, design, and QA teams to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, scalability, and operational processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum ~3 years of experience with cloud-based technologies.
  • Strong backend development experience in one or more modern languages/frameworks:
    • Node.js
    • Python (Django, FastAPI)
    • Go
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and server-side architecture.
  • Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and database management.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, CloudFront, Lambda, SQS, and S3.
  • Proven ability to analyze incidents and implement effective fixes.
  • Familiarity with development lifecycle practices: unit testing, code review, documentation, and deployment.
  • Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular) and strong JavaScript/HTML/CSS skills.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
  • Background in media management, digital media distribution, or media operations.
  • Experience working in Agile teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying technical problems and recommending solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring range for Glendale, California: $117,500–$157,500 annually.
  • Actual base pay may vary based on internal equity, geographic region, relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Total compensation may include bonus and/or long-term incentive units plus medical, financial, and other benefits depending on level and role.
