Summary
Confidential Client (Defense and Space Manufacturing) is hiring a full-time, on-site Software Engineer II to design, build, and maintain modern front‑end applications and full‑stack features that support mission‑critical radar and defense systems. This hands‑on role focuses on TypeScript and React development, integrating user interfaces with backend services, and delivering reliable, usable application features for operational environments.
What You’ll Do
- Build, test, debug, and maintain front‑end applications and full‑stack features that support mission‑critical radar and defense systems.
- Develop user‑facing features using TypeScript, React, and modern front‑end tooling.
- Integrate UIs with backend services, REST APIs, data sources, and system workflows.
- Collaborate with backend, systems, integration, and test engineers to turn requirements and CONOPS into practical application designs.
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing, debugging, documentation, and delivery of production‑quality software.
- Improve usability, reliability, maintainability, and consistency across application features.
- Learn domain concepts such as radar workflows, Linux‑based environments, and mission‑system operations as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field plus at least 2 years of relevant software engineering experience — or equivalent experience.
- Production experience building user interfaces using TypeScript and a modern component‑based framework (React, React Native, or Angular).
- Experience integrating front‑end applications with backend services, APIs, or system workflows.
- Experience with at least one backend or general‑purpose language (Node.js, Python, C#, Java, or similar).
- Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- U.S. citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance may be required for future program work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have
- Experience building dashboards, operator interfaces, engineering tools, data visualizations, or workflow‑heavy applications.
- Exposure to Linux, Docker, embedded or mission‑critical software environments, or radar/sensor systems.
- Familiarity with front‑end testing frameworks, modern build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Prior experience on defense, aerospace, or other regulated product teams.
Location & Schedule
- This is an on‑site position based in Germantown, MD. Close collaboration with software, systems, hardware, integration, and test teams is essential.
- Typical schedule: 9/80; first shift.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (good‑faith estimate): $91,907.00–$119,480.00 per year.
- Benefits package may include medical, dental, and vision coverage; health savings account contributions; telemedicine; life and disability insurance; legal insurance; 401(k) savings plan; paid time off; parental leave; tuition reimbursement; and professional development support.
- Additional compensation may include performance‑based bonuses, equity awards, or overtime (where applicable).
What This Role Is Not
- Not a content‑focused front‑end role — the focus is on interactive application features, tools, workflows, and operator interfaces.
- Not a backend/platform engineering position — integration with backend services is required, but primary focus is front‑end and full‑stack feature development.
- Not remote — this role is on‑site in Germantown, MD.
- Not a senior architect role — the Software Engineer II is expected to contribute independently, collaborate, and grow technical ownership over time.
