What You’ll Do
Confidential Client’s Security organization is hiring an experienced backend engineer to join the Bot and Agent Control Engineering team. You will build scalable, high-performance systems that detect and mitigate bot threats and request-risk across web and mobile platforms.
- Work on projects that improve bot and request-risk detection products and fraud prevention.
- Implement new features from design through testing and deployment.
- Enhance and optimize existing functionality for low-latency, high-throughput environments.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and work with senior support/level-3 teams to resolve customer-impacting problems.
- Analyze web and mobile request data to improve detection quality and system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ML engineers, to integrate machine learning models and LLM-based tools into production services.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of software development experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience building web APIs in a performant compiled language such as Java or Go.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, REST, and data formats (JSON, XML).
- Experience or familiarity with integrating machine learning models and LLMs into backend systems.
- Ability to design scalable, maintainable architectures and produce well-structured, testable code.
- Experience working on low-latency, high-throughput systems is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and good communication when collaborating with support and cross-functional teams.
Location & Work Model
- Job location: Cambridge, MA (Confidential Client supports FlexBase — employees may work on-site, remote, or hybrid depending on role and team needs).
- Candidates must be able to work with a team distributed across locations and collaborate effectively with remote colleagues.
Compensation & Benefits
- US base salary range: $95,000 – $171,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, certifications, and location.
- Total rewards may include annual bonus/incentive opportunities, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
