What You’ll Do

As a Software Engineer II on a cross-functional engineering squad for our confidential client, you will design, build, and operate features that support educators at scale. You will own work end-to-end — from design and implementation to monitoring and follow-up — and contribute to team-level decisions on tradeoffs, complexity, and quality.

  • Build and ship product features across the stack (React front end; C#/.NET Core or Python back end) from design through operation
  • Drive design discussions with concrete tradeoffs on performance, complexity, blast radius, and time-to-ship
  • Close open questions by spiking, scripting, or prototyping to move the team forward
  • Operate what you build: instrument systems, respond to alerts, and resolve post-release issues
  • Conduct and participate in rigorous code review; improve code quality and test coverage
  • Pick up technical debt, alerting gaps, and missing tests when you notice them
  • Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to accelerate tasks while owning delivered results

What You’ll Bring

  • 2–4 years shipping production software with end-to-end ownership
  • Fluency in at least one frontend JS framework (React, Vue, or Angular) and experience with a strongly typed or backend language (C#/.NET, Python, Go)
  • A habit of naming concrete tradeoffs and showing up with proposed solutions
  • Engineering practices that value testing, observability, and careful review
  • Experience debugging production systems and understanding deployment-to-live workflows
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn across the stack

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React (migration from legacy systems in progress)
  • Backend: C# / .NET Core or Python
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Docker
  • CI/CD: Jenkins, container-based dev workflows
  • Developer experience: internal tooling, repo templates, CI/CD workflows

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary: USD 125,000 – 135,000 per year
  • Employed directly by our confidential client. Specific benefit details (health, retirement, PTO) will be provided during the interview and offer process.

Location & Work Model

This role is based in Boston, MA. The position supports telecommute/remote work arrangements (jobLocationType: TELECOMMUTE) and may require collaboration with East Coast working hours and occasional on-site visits as needed.

Why Join

  • Work on mission-driven problems that directly impact English Learners and the educators who serve them
  • Influence developer experience and internal platforms at a growing organization
  • Collaborate in a supportive, high-performing, cross-functional environment
  • Grow technically and professionally while contributing to meaningful products
