What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer II (AI Focus) to help design, build, and maintain AI integrations used in operational workflows. This is a hands-on engineering role that focuses on production-ready AI tooling and reliable data integration.

  • Develop production agentic integrations in Python that combine multiple AI models, APIs, and data sources.
  • Implement workflows and tools using modern frameworks (examples: PydanticIA, Langgraph, DeepAgents) to orchestrate multi-model behavior.
  • Integrate external HTTP/REST APIs and diverse data types to provide context and inputs for AI workflows.
  • Design structured prompts, context management, and function/tool-calling patterns to ensure deterministic outputs where needed.
  • Collaborate with mission stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and iterate on deployments.
  • Build test suites and validation processes for AI workflows; triage and resolve reliability and performance issues.
  • Use source control and CI/CD (Git, GitLab CI/CD) to manage releases and automation pipelines.

What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

Applicants must already hold a TS/SCI clearance with a current Full Scope Polygraph before applying. Confidential Client is not sponsoring or processing clearances for this role.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, OR a B.S. in a technical discipline plus 4 additional years in lieu of the degree (per the role’s stated requirements).
  • Strong proficiency in Python, especially handling JSON, REST API interaction, and data manipulation.
  • Demonstrated experience building systems that query and ingest external HTTP-based APIs.
  • Solid understanding of AI development fundamentals: prompt engineering, context/window management, structured outputs, and tool/function calling.
  • Experience with Git source control and familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience presenting technical or data analysis results to customers/stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD automation and standard deployment workflows.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing and orchestrating agentic or multi-agent workflows.
  • Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, vector stores, or semantic search systems (RAG).
  • Background in cybersecurity, SIGINT systems, CNO capabilities, or security operations workflows.
  • Practical experience in AI domains such as autonomy, planning, or large language model production deployments.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $176,000 — $192,000 per year.
  • Additional immediately vested company 401(k) contributions: $44,000 — $48,000.
  • Full benefits package details to be provided by Confidential Client during the interview process.
  • This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph; remote work/telecommute is not indicated.

Candidate Experience & Compliance Notes

  • Confidential Client is seeking candidates who meet clearance requirements — candidates seeking to obtain a clearance do not meet minimum qualifications.
