Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer I to join a Radar Product Line engineering team in Tewksbury, MA (onsite). This role contributes to the design, implementation, and test of real-time embedded and application software used in defense systems. Candidates will work with cross-functional engineering teams and follow established software development and configuration-management practices.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist and participate in requirements, design, development, and testing of real-time embedded software, application software, and engineering tools.
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions and enhancements.
  • Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, systems engineers, and other professionals across Engineering.
  • Follow established development practices, configuration management, and software lifecycle processes.
  • Contribute to team-based development using Agile/SCRUM and support test automation where applicable.

Qualifications — Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Experience or coursework in software development (class projects, internships, or work experience).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government–issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and clear written/verbal communication.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Tewksbury, MA and attend in-person steps of the interview process if requested.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with C++, C, Java, or similar higher-level programming languages.
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and systems software design.
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Experience in team-based development environments (Agile/SCRUM), DevOps practices, or test automation.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation and learn new technologies quickly.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $57,200 — $108,800 USD per year (good-faith estimate across experience levels).
  • Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term/long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, parental leave, and other programs depending on business unit and eligibility.
  • Relocation eligibility may apply.

Security & Compliance

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret (or equivalent) security clearance prior to start. U.S. citizenship is required.
