What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level/full-time Software Engineer role focused on backend and GenAI-enabled application development. You'll work on building scalable Python services, integrating large language models (LLMs), and implementing retrieval and agentic AI workflows as part of cross-functional engineering teams supporting a Confidential Client in Financial Services.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Python-based backend services and RESTful APIs (FastAPI, Flask).
- Write clean, modular, reusable, and well-tested code; implement unit tests, logging, and robust error handling.
- Build and integrate API-driven services and collaborate in Git-based workflows and code reviews.
- Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) — write SQL, manage schemas, and optimize queries.
- Work with NoSQL stores (Couchbase, Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB) for ingestion and retrieval workflows.
- Build Generative AI solutions: integrate LLM APIs, implement embeddings, vector-search, and RAG pipelines.
- Implement document ingestion, chunking, embedding generation, and semantic search with vector databases.
- Develop basic agentic AI capabilities: tool calling, simple orchestration, state management, and automation using frameworks such as LangChain or similar.
- Evaluate LLM and agent performance; build observability, prompt strategies, and basic guardrails.
- Use Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment best practices; follow secure coding and data-privacy controls.
- Participate in Agile development processes and produce technical documentation to support operations and troubleshooting.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1–3 years of professional software development experience using Python.
- Strong fundamentals in Python, object-oriented design, data structures, and API development.
- Hands-on experience with at least one relational database and one NoSQL database.
- Practical SQL knowledge and experience with schema design and data retrieval techniques.
- Practical experience integrating LLMs into Python applications and familiarity with embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, and RAG architectures.
- Basic understanding of agentic AI concepts (tool calling, orchestration) and general knowledge of frontier/open-source LLMs.
- Experience with Git and common development tools.
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and deployment practices.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
- Employment eligibility to work with the Confidential Client in the United States; the Confidential Client will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
