About the Role
Our confidential client is hiring a Software Engineer I to join their cross-disciplinary engineering team in San Diego, CA on a hybrid schedule. You will develop software that integrates with hardware, control systems, and user interfaces, and work closely with mechanical, optical, electrical, and hardware engineers to deliver system-level solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop software that integrates with hardware, control systems, and user interfaces
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver complete system solutions
- Apply modern design patterns and asynchronous programming to build reliable, scalable applications
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests; debug and validate software on real hardware
- Produce clear technical documentation and present technical information to groups
What We’re Looking For
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
- 0–2 years of software development experience (entry-level to early-career)
- Experience with .NET and C#, or C/C++
- Experience with desktop UI frameworks (WPF, WinUI, Avalonia, Blazor, or similar)
- Solid understanding of design principles and patterns (OOP, MVVM, Producer/Consumer, etc.)
- Experience with asynchronous programming (async/await, Tasks, futures)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present technical topics clearly
- Must be a US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with communication protocols (UART, EtherCAT, UDP/TCP, MODBUS, etc.)
- Hands-on experience testing software on hardware and embedded systems
- Experience designing and architecting software systems for reliability and maintainability
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay range: $64,693 - $105,709 per year (base pay range provided by the client)
- In addition to base pay, you may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, benefits (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) with company match, and other company benefits
- Position is based in San Diego, CA with a hybrid schedule; the hybrid arrangement may change based on business needs
