About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer I for its Digital Emerging Technology & Innovation (D‑ETI) team in San Antonio, TX. This is an entry-level, full‑time engineering role on an innovation lab that rapidly prototypes customer-facing solutions for retail. You'll work across front-end, back-end, and APIs, learn modern cloud tooling, and help turn ideas into working prototypes and production features.
What You’ll Do
- Build full‑stack solutions: intuitive web frontends, mobile experiences, clean APIs, and reliable backend services.
- Rapidly prototype and validate concepts with real users; iterate based on feedback.
- Collaborate with product, design, QA, and other engineering teams to integrate with existing systems.
- Write clean, testable code and contribute to system design, performance, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and propose long‑term fixes.
- Learn and grow technical skills; begin to lead small initiatives and share knowledge with teammates.
About the Team
The Digital Emerging Technology & Innovation team functions as an internal incubator. The team moves quickly from idea to prototype, evaluates vendor solutions, and recommends technical approaches that inform broader product strategy. Expect a fast‑paced, collaborative environment focused on delivering value to customers.
Who You Are / Qualifications
- Computer Science degree or equivalent training, certification, or hands‑on experience.
- 0–2 years of full‑stack development experience with one or more languages such as JavaScript, C++, Ruby, Python, PHP, Go, or Java.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Problem‑solver who works well in collaborative, fast‑moving teams.
- Experience building and shipping customer‑facing products is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
- Comfortable with rapid prototyping while maintaining appropriate quality standards.
Work Environment & Additional Requirements
- This is an on‑site role in San Antonio, TX; occasional travel by car or plane with overnight stays may be required.
- May work extended hours or rotating/on‑call schedules as needed.
