Position Overview

This Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer I to work onsite in Saint Petersburg, FL. The role focuses on embedded and real-time software development (primarily C/C++) across the software development lifecycle. This is an onsite position requiring the ability to obtain or hold a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required where clearance eligibility is necessary.


What You’ll Do

The team builds software for aerospace and defense systems. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Participate in requirements, design, development, and testing of embedded software (application, middleware, OS, and tools).
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
  • Contribute to internal code and system reviews.
  • Follow configuration management and established development practices.
  • Work in a collaborative, SAFe/Agile environment.
  • Support field integration testing (travel up to 10%).

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM field completed by start date.
  • Experience with C/C++ and object-oriented software design.
  • Ability to obtain or possess required U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required where clearance is necessary).

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience working on team-based development projects using Agile/SCRUM.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and test automation practices.
  • Experience with large, complex software systems and refactoring legacy code.
  • Experience developing and debugging real-time, multithreaded software applications.
  • Prior leadership experience such as Scrum Master or Product Owner is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: 57,200 USD – 108,800 USD (good-faith estimate across experience levels). Final offer considers role, experience, location, education, and skills.
  • Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k) match, flexible spending, employee assistance, education programs, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits depend on business unit and employment terms.
  • Relocation assistance may be available if eligible.
  • Hired candidates may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive programs (not guaranteed).

Work Location & Additional Details

  • Location: Onsite in Saint Petersburg, FL.
  • Travel: Up to 10% for field integration testing.
  • Security: Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance or the ability to obtain an interim clearance is required prior to start, as applicable to the role. U.S. citizenship is required where clearance is necessary.
  • Employment type: Full-time.
