What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a detail-oriented Software QA Engineer (entry-level / new grad) for a 3-month temporary engagement onsite in Long Beach, CA. This role focuses on ensuring software quality through manual and automated testing, working closely with developers and product teams in an Agile environment.

  • Execute manual and automated test cases across full-stack applications
  • Log, track, and report defects using Jira
  • Reproduce issues and work with developers to clarify requirements
  • Contribute to and maintain test scripts in a Playwright automation framework
  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and QA process improvements
  • Help grow QA standards, test coverage, and automation reliability

Qualifications

Minimum requirements to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent education/experience
  • 0–2 years of software QA / testing experience (internships and co-ops included)
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing methodologies, and Agile practices
  • Basic coding knowledge (JavaScript preferred)
  • Experience or familiarity with Jira and Git
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • U.S. Person status as required by export regulations (see Additional Requirements)
  • Eligible for Department of Defense clearance (Secret or TS/SCI) — ability to obtain required clearance is required for assignment

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Exposure to Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or other automation tooling
  • Experience testing APIs and using API testing tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and growth-oriented in QA practices
  • Team player with a proactive mindset and strong time-management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Compensation

  • Base salary for this Long Beach, CA role: $80,000 per year.
  • This posting is for a 3-month temporary engagement with potential to convert to regular employment based on performance and business need.

Additional Requirements & Work Environment

  • Work location: This position is onsite in Long Beach, CA. Limited travel to other sites may be required.
  • This role supports space and defense-related work. To comply with U.S. Government export controls (including ITAR), applicants must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or otherwise eligible to obtain required authorizations) and be able to meet clearance eligibility requirements.
