What You’ll Do
Software Engineer I will contribute to the design, development, testing, and support of backend services and applications that align technology initiatives with business goals. This is an early-career role where you'll work with experienced engineers and product partners to deliver high-quality software.
- Develop and maintain software applications using Java and Python
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Participate in code reviews and implement automated testing with guidance
- Debug software components, identify defects, and remediate issues
- Support and monitor applications across test, integration, and production environments
- Collaborate with product and business teams to align technical solutions with objectives
- Use and validate AI-assisted tools for coding, testing, debugging, and documentation; accept guidance when applying AI-generated recommendations and remain accountable for outputs
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain RESTful microservices and APIs
- Work with frameworks and tools such as Spring, Spring Boot, Vert.x, and IntelliJ
- Interface with data stores and messaging platforms (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Couchbase, OpenSearch, Kafka)
- Contribute to distributed/multi-tier system design and performance tuning (In-Memory computing, Ignite, Spark)
- Write and maintain automated tests and participate in CI/CD activities
- Collaborate in Agile development cycles and adapt to changing priorities
- Help build and refine agent skills and contribute to prompt engineering efforts where applicable
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, or relevant industry experience
- Minimum ~2 years professional software development experience
- Practical experience with Java technologies (Vert.x, Spring, Spring Boot) and experience with Python
- Experience building or working with RESTful microservices
- Exposure to distributed systems, algorithms, and relational or NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with streaming and messaging systems (Kafka)
- Strong debugging skills and the ability to identify and resolve code defects
- Experience working in Agile or rapid development environments
- Good oral and written communication skills, and ability to translate technical and business objectives into actionable work
- Experience leveraging or building agent skills, and working with prompt engineering techniques is a plus
Compensation & Location
- Estimated salary range: $78,000–$124,750 per year (actual pay considers location, experience, and other job-related factors)
- Location: Phoenix, AZ (role may offer hybrid, onsite, or virtual arrangements depending on business need)
- Depending on business unit needs and applicable laws, the confidential client may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions
