Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer I (MPDE) to support development, implementation, and maintenance of software used in manufacturing processes. This is an early-career, full-time engineering role focused on manufacturing process control, data collection, automation, and operator tooling to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in production environments.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in design, development, and testing of software applications using C++, C, and Python.
- Support implementation of manufacturing process control systems and automation solutions.
- Contribute to user interfaces and operator tools used on the shop floor.
- Participate in software debugging, validation, documentation, and version control workflows.
- Maintain and enhance existing codebases following established design and cybersecurity standards.
- Support deployment and commissioning of software on manufacturing equipment.
- Help develop data collection systems, dashboards, and reports to improve visibility to production metrics.
- Investigate production system issues, participate in root-cause analysis, and support corrective actions.
- Create and maintain software documentation, work instructions, and technical specifications.
- Follow EHS, quality, and change-management procedures while supporting continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Experience with one or more programming languages: C++, C, Python.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming and basic software debugging techniques.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git preferred).
- Basic database concepts and interest in data-driven manufacturing systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and work closely with engineers, technicians, and operations personnel.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Internship, co-op, academic project, or research experience involving software development.
- Exposure to manufacturing systems, industrial automation, machine vision, robotics, SQL databases, user interface development, or data analytics.
- Experience with manufacturing data collection tools, dashboarding, or SCADA/PLC integration.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $68,700–$103,000 (USD) — actual pay will depend on experience, qualifications, and local laws.
- Total compensation may include base salary + incentives + benefits.
- Benefits: comprehensive package including health insurance, 401(k), disability, life insurance, employee stock purchase plan, paid time off, and voluntary benefits.
