What You’ll Do
- Analyze, design, build, test and maintain software solutions that deliver world-class digital experiences for members and internal stakeholders.
- Create estimates, identify dependencies, and evaluate potential risks with proposed mitigations.
- Write clean, secure, and well-documented code that satisfies requirements and adheres to engineering best practices.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests to validate changes and prevent regressions.
- Design and tune databases to meet performance, audit, and scalability requirements.
- Integrate third-party/vendor systems and manage release deployments to development and production environments.
- Participate in code reviews and prepare change documentation with testing instructions.
- Be available for on-call rotations and practice safe, controlled off-hours releases and maintenance when required.
Operational Excellence
- Take ownership of assigned work and ensure deliverables meet quality and schedule expectations.
- Triage, diagnose, and resolve production issues proactively and in response to support requests.
- Improve system reliability, scalability, and maintainability through thoughtful engineering and automation.
- Balance feature work and operational responsibilities with appropriate prioritization.
Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with other technology teams, product owners, business partners, and vendors to deliver solutions that solve business problems.
- Communicate project status, estimates, risks, and planned/unplanned disruptions in a timely and courteous manner.
- Document solutions and processes to support team knowledge-sharing and onboarding.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and iterative development practices.
Continuous Learning
- Pursue professional and technical skill development to stay current with software engineering trends and emerging technologies.
- Share learnings with the team to raise overall capability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field is required.
- 2–3 years of software engineering experience required.
- Comfortable working in an Agile, team-oriented environment.
Technical Skills
- Fluency in one or more object-oriented languages; .NET and C# experience required.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Experience with query languages (e.g., SQL) and designing performant database schemas.
- Familiar with version control systems (Git or similar).
- Experience writing unit and integration tests.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and common security controls.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
