About the Role

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer I to join an Engineering team that develops real‑time training systems and user–computer interfaces for operator and maintenance training devices. This is a full‑time, on‑site opportunity in Jacksonville, FL. The role emphasizes hands‑on software implementation, peer review, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.


What You’ll Do

  • Analyze, design, and implement real‑time software for operator and maintenance training systems.
  • Contribute to in‑house software review processes (peer reviews and compliance with the Software Development Plan).
  • Record and track discrepancies; work with the team to resolve issues before product delivery.
  • Participate in project reviews, present status updates, and document engineering action items.
  • Help estimate training software level‑of‑effort for customer proposals.
  • Safely handle government‑furnished equipment and materials when required.
  • Work a standard schedule with overtime as needed and perform other assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Proficiency in C++ and/or C#.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to learn quickly and work independently.
  • Able to obtain a security clearance when required by the contract.
  • Education/experience combination one of:
    • BS in computer simulation, engineering, game development, or a related field (preferred), or
    • AA/AS plus 2 years programming/engineering experience, or
    • High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 4 years programming/engineering experience.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with UNIX / Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with MS Visual Studio and OpenGL.
  • Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine (Unreal experience preferred).
  • Experience developing real‑time or simulation software.
  • Familiarity with software configuration control and peer review processes.

Compensation & Location

  • Pay Range: $65,000 – $86,000 per year (range provided by Confidential Client).
  • Location: Jacksonville, FL — this position is expected to be on‑site (not remote).
