Role overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer I to join a Tactical Situational Awareness group focused on next‑generation avionics and automation. This on-site position is located in Huntsville, AL and will work within an Agile team to design, implement, integrate, and verify software that supports avionics systems used in safety- and mission-critical environments.
What You’ll Do
- Design, implement, and evaluate software using C++, Java and Python.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary research and collaborate with engineers across hardware and systems teams.
- Build and test early software prototypes and integrate them with system components.
- Implement requirements, detailed designs, integration and verification activities per established software processes.
- Work in an Agile environment, complete multiple tasks with mentor support, and follow program schedules.
- Learn new technologies, troubleshoot issues, and contribute positively to team culture.
Qualifications — minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM discipline.
- Familiarity with design and development using languages such as C, C++, Java, Ada, and Python.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to contribute effectively in collaborative, cross-domain development environments.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work well with others.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this role due to program/contract requirements.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with the Agile software development lifecycle.
- Experience or interest in avionics, embedded systems, or safety-critical software development.

Compensation
- Salary range (good-faith estimate): $57,200 — $108,800 USD (annual). Final compensation depends on role level, experience, location, and other factors.
