What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is looking for an early-career Software Engineer to join a product team building high-performance, real-time SaaS systems. You will work primarily with Java, deploy and operate services in Azure, and help maintain monitoring, alerting and automation for production environments.
- Design and develop product features and RESTful APIs using object-oriented principles
- Troubleshoot and fix product defects and deployment issues in customer environments
- Deploy and upgrade software in Azure cloud environments
- Implement and improve monitoring and alerting (e.g., Prometheus and related tooling)
- Automate repeatable operational tasks to improve reliability and reduce toil
- Investigate operational incidents and collaborate on root-cause analysis
- Collaborate daily with Developers, DevOps, Support, and Infrastructure teams; occasionally engage with end users to troubleshoot issues
- Contribute to a product that is real-time, scalable, geo-distributed, highly available, and subject to aggressive performance SLAs
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be successful in this role if you are a self-starter with 0–2 years of software development experience and a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals.
- 0–2 years of software development experience
- Experience with Object-Oriented Programming (Java preferred; C#, C++ acceptable)
- Knowledge of REST APIs and API design principles
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and verbal & written communication skills
- Comfortable working in fast-paced Agile teams and learning new technologies deeply
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
These skills will make you an even stronger candidate, but they are not strict requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Hands-on experience delivering SaaS applications, including monitoring and troubleshooting production systems
- Unix shell scripting or experience with Ruby/Python/Perl and Unix administration basics
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, and front-end experience with React or JavaScript
