Team & Role Overview
Confidential Client is building production-grade generative AI capabilities to improve recruiting, placement, sales, and internal productivity. We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer I who wants to contribute to end-to-end GenAI systems — from APIs and integrations to evaluation, observability, and ongoing support. This is a full-time, telecommute-friendly role based in New York, NY (telecommute / remote eligible).
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to design, build, test, deploy, and monitor production generative AI applications, APIs, and integrations that support recruiting, placement, sales, and internal workflows.
- Partner with data scientists, data engineers, DevOps, and product stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Implement GenAI patterns such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt orchestration, agent workflows, and evaluation pipelines.
- Integrate with LLM APIs, vector databases, embeddings pipelines, and evaluation tooling.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code; participate in code reviews and documentation; support CI/CD and observability best practices.
- Help troubleshoot production issues and improve monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks.
What You’ll Need
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and production experience building APIs, services, or data pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with modern frameworks for services and APIs.
- Hands-on familiarity with generative AI concepts and tools: LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, vector DBs, embeddings, and evaluation methods. Production experience with these concepts is strongly preferred.
- Experience with AWS and cloud-based production environments (deployments, monitoring, infra-as-code).
- Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability tools.
- Good communicator who can collaborate across technical and non-technical teams and work through ambiguous problems with guidance.
- Bachelor’s degree (per job requirements) or equivalent practical experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Typical annual base salary range: $68,000 – $102,000 (range is negotiable depending on experience and location).
