About the Role

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Software Engineer I to design, develop, and test flight and space-systems software. This role is focused on producing clean, maintainable code, collaborating with senior engineers, and learning domain-specific development practices used in space and defense systems.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and test software components for flight and space systems.
  • Write clean, maintainable code following coding standards and best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and iterate on feedback from senior engineers.
  • Use version control (Git) to manage source code and collaborate with teammates.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues, and document solutions and design decisions.
  • Contribute to software documentation: designs, configurations, processes, and test results.
  • Stay current with software engineering best practices and space/defense technology trends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent work experience.
  • 0–2 years of professional software development experience (entry-level).
  • Basic understanding of one or more programming languages.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Team-player with good communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship will be required for clearance eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework, internship, or practical experience in embedded systems or firmware.
  • Familiarity with Python and/or C++.
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile development (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

  • Pay range: $83,999.00 - $115,498.25 per year.
  • Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, and internal equity.

Clearance & Legal Requirements

  • This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility. Applicants who cannot meet these requirements may not be eligible.
