What You’ll Do
As a Software Engineer I (DevOps / DevSecOps focus) you will work on software that supports mission-critical systems. You'll collaborate with senior engineers, learn modern DevOps practices, and help build reliable, secure build and deployment workflows.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software components for mission-focused systems
- Write clean, maintainable code and follow coding standards
- Collaborate on requirements, participate in design and code reviews
- Use Git and branching strategies to manage source control
- Assist in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Work with containerization (Docker) and basic orchestration concepts
- Troubleshoot and debug software and pipeline issues; document findings
- Follow foundational security best practices and help integrate security into development workflows (DevSecOps)
- Learn to use monitoring, logging, and observability tools to support production systems
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience
- Typically 0–2+ years of software development experience (entry-level / early-career)
- Basic proficiency with one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, C/C++)
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Ability to write clear, maintainable code and follow peer review feedback
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance — U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred qualifications (nice-to-have)
- Exposure to DevOps/DevSecOps practices and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Familiarity with Docker and container workflow basics
- Experience or coursework with Linux development environments
- Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Exposure to orchestration (Kubernetes), IaC (Terraform, Ansible), and logging/monitoring stacks (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience with C/C++ build systems (CMake, Conan) is a plus
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn from senior engineers
Compensation & Location
- Location: Superior, CO (on-site / local) — position is listed for Superior, Colorado
- Pay range (provided): $83,999.00 - $115,498.25 per year. Your actual base pay will be determined based on job-related experience, skills, education, and market factors as required by applicable pay transparency laws.
Security & Eligibility
- This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
- Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible for a clearance and therefore may be ineligible for this position.
- The adjudication process considers factors such as allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, criminal conduct, and other adjudicative factors.
