What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Software Engineer I specializing in DevOps / DevSecOps practices to join a team building mission-critical space and defense systems. In this role you will help design, build, test, and maintain software and development infrastructure that supports secure, repeatable delivery pipelines.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software components and scripts to support development and deployment workflows.
  • Work with senior engineers to implement secure CI/CD pipelines and automation (build, test, deployment).
  • Use version control (Git) to manage code, branch strategy, and pull requests; participate in code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot software and pipeline issues and drive timely resolution.
  • Help containerize applications and maintain container images (Docker).
  • Contribute to documentation of designs, configurations, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Learn and apply basic DevSecOps concepts: security best practices, secret management, and dependency scanning under guidance.
  • Stay current with DevOps/DevSecOps tooling, cloud, and industry practices and contribute ideas to improve team workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field — or equivalent work experience.
  • 0–2 years of professional software development experience (entry-level).
  • Basic understanding of one or more programming languages and software development principles.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to DevOps / DevSecOps practices through coursework, internships, or projects.
  • Basic scripting experience (Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
  • Basic experience with containerization (Docker) and Linux environments.
  • Foundational knowledge of security practices for software development.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ build tools (CMake, Conan) is a plus.
  • Basic exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Awareness of orchestration tools (Kubernetes), IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible), and monitoring/logging stacks (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and eagerness to learn from senior engineers.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range (Colorado posting): $83,999.00 - $115,498.25 per year. Your actual base compensation will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on experience, education, knowledge, and internal equity.

Security & Eligibility

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidates who are not U.S. citizens may not be eligible for a clearance or employment in this role.
