Role overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer I to join an on-site avionics/engineering team in Cedar Rapids, IA. You'll help design, implement, and validate software for next-generation avionics and situational awareness systems. This is a full-time, on-site role that requires U.S. citizenship.
What you’ll do
- Design, implement, and evaluate software using C++, Java and Python within an Agile framework
- Support multidisciplinary research and collaborate with engineers to plan and develop military and avionics software
- Build and test early software prototypes and work with cross-functional teams to evaluate results
- Implement requirements, detailed designs, integrate software components, and verify systems following established processes
- Independently manage multiple tasks with mentorship and deliver work according to program schedules
- Learn new technologies, contribute to a positive team environment, and support continuous improvement
Qualifications — Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or another STEM discipline
- Familiarity with C, C++, Java, Ada and/or Python for software design and development
- Proven ability to contribute in collaborative, cross-domain engineering environments
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work well on a team
- U.S. citizenship is required for this role
Qualifications — Preferred
- Exposure to Agile software development lifecycle and practices
- Experience with avionics, embedded, or safety-critical software (helpful but not required)
Compensation & benefits
- Salary range: $57,200 – $108,800 USD per year (good-faith estimate across experience levels)
