What You’ll Do

We’re hiring a Software Engineer I (Backend) to join a growing engineering team at our Confidential Client. This is an entry-level/backend-focused engineering role where you’ll contribute to building reliable, maintainable backend services and APIs that support high-traffic consumer products.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver backend features and services.
  • Implement server-side application logic, APIs, and data access layers.
  • Write clear, maintainable code and unit/integration tests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
  • Help maintain CI/CD pipelines and assist with deployments and monitoring.

Who You Are / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, OR equivalent professional experience.
  • 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience (internships and co-ops count).
  • Familiarity with backend development concepts: RESTful APIs, data modeling, authentication, and basic performance considerations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable collaborating in cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to writing tests and producing high-quality, maintainable code.

Nice to Have

These are not required but will help you stand out.

  • Experience contributing to production services or open-source projects.
  • Basic familiarity with databases (relational or NoSQL), message queues, or caching systems.
  • Exposure to monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
  • Internship or project experience with backend frameworks or cloud platforms.

Work Location & Logistics

  • Location: Memphis, TN (on-site or hybrid as determined by the Confidential Client). Specific work arrangement will be confirmed during the interview process.
  • Employment type: Full-time (direct hire with Confidential Client).
  • Visa sponsorship: Eligibility for employment-based sponsorship will be determined by the Confidential Client and shared during the hiring process.
