What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Software Engineer I to support modeling & simulation (M&S) development and execution for surface Navy radar and combat systems. You will join a team of junior and senior engineers creating simulation components, GUIs, analysis tools, and automation used for system design, development, and performance evaluation.

  • Integrate models and components into large-scale simulations
  • Develop and maintain GUI and analysis tools
  • Build and improve automation for build, test, and deployment
  • Contribute to design and architecture, implement capabilities, test, and resolve bugs
  • Collaborate closely with radar systems and M&S engineers
  • Port code between Windows and Linux environments
  • Travel up to ~5% (Navy facilities in the Washington, DC area)

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or comparable technical discipline
  • Proficiency in C/C++ or Java
  • Strong programming fundamentals and debugging skills
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Preferred

  • Experience with Qt and Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux development environments
  • Interest in Navy AEGIS combat systems and defense technology

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $83,000 – $108,000 per year (depending on experience and location)
  • Eligible for annual performance bonus; may include equity or incentive compensation
  • Benefits: 401(k), flexible work schedules, tuition reimbursement, health plans, paid leave, and other standard benefits

Location & Travel

  • Primary work location: Adelphi, MD
  • Expected travel: up to ~5% to Navy facilities in the Washington, DC area

Clearance & Eligibility

  • This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
  • Employment contingent on background check, security investigation, and drug screening.
