What You’ll Do

You will join a mission-focused software engineering team that develops and maintains a large, safety- and performance-critical weapon system software stack. Working with the Confidential Client’s Fire Control software team, you will:

• Implement, test, and maintain complex algorithms used to evaluate and manage threat scenes for missile defense systems.
• Contribute to code modernization and translation efforts (Ada → C++).
• Review and help refine software requirements, design artifacts, and test cases.
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines (systems, algorithms, test) in a secure, in-person/closed-area environment.
• Support integration, verification, and occasional deployments; travel up to 10% may be required.
• Participate in Agile development processes and use CI/CD and DevSecOps tools to support automated builds and tests.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements at the time of application:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 2 years of related experience, OR a Master’s degree with 0–2 years’ experience. (Principal levels require greater experience per role posting.)
• Recent and demonstrable experience developing software in Ada, C++, or Java.
• Strong mathematics and physics background with proven ability to understand and implement complex algorithms in code.
• Ability and willingness to work on-site in a controlled environment (in-person/closed-area).
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
• Applicants must possess an active, in-scope Secret security clearance at the time of application (required to start). U.S. citizenship is required for positions requiring government clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in mathematics or physics.
• Experience with Linux, scripting, and operations.
• Prior work on Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) or similar programs.
• Familiarity with Agile tools (Jira/Confluence) and DevSecOps/CI-CD toolchains (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Bitbucket).

Compensation

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600 — $131,400 per year.

The listed range represents a guideline. Final base salary offers consider the role scope, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
