What You’ll Do

You will join a Confidential Client engineering team supporting a national security customer near Hanover, MD. As a Software Engineer you will design, develop, test, and maintain complex software systems — from real-time processing and algorithm development to large-scale data ingestion and analytics. You may work independently or lead teams depending on level. Typical work includes coding, debugging, integrating software components, documenting designs and tests, and collaborating with systems and hardware engineers to meet performance and interface requirements.

Key Responsibilities (by level)

• Level 0

• Analyze user requirements and derive software design/performance requirements

• Design, code, and modify software to add features or fix defects

• Debug and integrate software in new or existing environments

• Develop simple queries for databases or data repositories

• Recommend documentation and software process improvements

• Level 1

• Implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards

• Help develop and execute test procedures for components

• Produce or review software/system documentation

• Analyze system performance, data flows, and work processes to design solutions

• Serve as a team lead as appropriate; design complex database interfaces and queries

• Level 2

• Oversee one or more software development teams; ensure compliance with development processes

• Design/implement complex algorithms with timing, resource, or interface constraints

• Perform quality control on team deliverables

• Coordinate with systems and hardware engineers to derive software requirements

• Lead software installations and monitor operational performance

• Level 3

• Serve as technical lead across multiple teams

• Select development processes and recommend new technologies/processes

• Ensure quality control across projects and delegate/monitor programming/testing tasks

Minimum Qualifications

• TS/SCI with Polygraph required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution — OR four (4) years of additional software engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
• Experience on programs/contracts of similar scope and complexity at the applicable level
• Employment Type: Full-time
• U.S. employment authorization and eligibility to obtain/maintain required security clearance

Level-specific minimums (examples drawn from role tiers):

• Level 0 (Linux / System Administration): less than seven (7) years experience; Linux administration; scripting; system patching and hardware configuration support
• Level 0 (Java / Data Ingestion): four (4) to seven (7) years Java experience; experience supporting complex data ingestion
• Level 1 (Java / RESTful interfaces): seven (7) to fourteen (14) years Java experience; strong RESTful API development and test-driven development
• Level 3 (Splunk / Big Data): nineteen (19) or more years of software development experience; experience with large/complex data sets

• Splunk and other big data technologies (preferred for Level 3)
• Java, Spring, JEE, JSP/Servlets, Apache Tomcat
• JavaScript libraries (jQuery, Angular, extJS)
• Linux development environments and administration
• Revision control: Git, Subversion (SVN), CVS, or ClearCase
• Test-driven development practices
• Databases: Oracle, PL/SQL, MySQL, MongoDB
• Integration tools: Apache Camel
• Scripting/perl, RPM packaging, SNMP, virtualization technologies
• Experience or exposure to signals analysis and digital signal processing (DSP) (Level 0 Java/Data Ingestion)

Compensation & Benefits

This role offers competitive total compensation and benefits. Salary ranges (by level):

• Level 0: $115,000 - $125,000 (USD per year)
• Level 1: $171,000 - $181,000 (USD per year)
• Level 2: $194,000 - $204,000 (USD per year)
• Level 3: $232,000 - $242,000 (USD per year)

Additional compensation and benefits:

• $10,000 sign-on bonus (as advertised)
• $1,200 annual compliance bonus
• PTO, 401(k) match (5%), profit sharing
• Employer-paid life insurance, dental, vision, STD/LTD
• Access to national medical plan options with employer contribution

Notes: salary ranges and bonuses are provided by the Confidential Client and reflect advertised ranges for roles at different levels. Final offer will depend on level, experience, and clearance.
