What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer to join a Guidewire PolicyCenter and Policy Lifecycle engineering team. You will design, build, test, deploy, and support features that power quoting, underwriting, issuance, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, reinstatements, and servicing workflows.

  • Design, develop, configure, test, deploy, and support solutions in Guidewire PolicyCenter.
  • Implement application changes using Gosu, Java, PolicyCenter configuration, business rules, typelists, entities, and PCF components.
  • Work on product model changes, quote & bind flows, underwriting rules, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and policy servicing.
  • Build and maintain integrations between PolicyCenter and internal/external systems (REST APIs, messaging, events, files).
  • Follow Guidewire upgrade-safe patterns and established development standards.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Break user stories into tasks, estimate work, and deliver to the team’s definition of done.
  • Write unit tests and support automation, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
  • Perform code reviews, troubleshoot defects, and collaborate with QA to resolve issues.
  • Support deployment validation and remediation activities in Guidewire Cloud environments.
  • Monitor production systems, investigate errors, assist with root-cause analysis, maintain runbooks, and participate in support rotations when required.
  • Continuously build domain knowledge in Policy Lifecycle and Guidewire Cloud practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Software development experience using Java, Gosu, C#, or another object-oriented language.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design and software engineering principles.
  • Experience developing, configuring, testing, or supporting enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, web services, and asynchronous integrations.
  • Experience with XML, JSON, SQL, and relational data models.
  • Experience with Git-based source control and collaborative engineering workflows.
  • Knowledge of unit testing, debugging, defect resolution, and code-review practices.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery teams.
  • Willingness and ability to learn Guidewire PolicyCenter and Guidewire Cloud.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Prior Guidewire PolicyCenter development, configuration, or production support experience.
  • Experience writing Gosu, working with PolicyCenter Studio, PCF files, entities, typelists, and business rules.
  • Guidewire PolicyCenter Associate certification or progress toward Guidewire certification.
  • Experience with Guidewire Cloud platform and cloud-native deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with related Guidewire products (BillingCenter, ClaimCenter) or rating & data platforms.
  • Experience building and testing REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub/Bitbucket, automated testing, and release management.
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience using monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, Splunk).
  • Prior experience in Property & Casualty insurance or supporting business-critical production applications.

  • Deliver reliable, testable, and maintainable PolicyCenter changes with appropriate guidance.
  • Understand the business purpose and technical impact of assigned work.
  • Resolve routine development issues and defects independently and escalate complex risks with clear technical information.
  • Contribute effectively to testing, releases, and production support.
  • Demonstrate steady growth in Guidewire, integration, cloud, and insurance-domain knowledge.
  • Take increasing ownership of user stories, features, and application components.
  • Collaborate effectively with product, QA, architecture, and business partners.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Typical starting salary range for this role: $80,000 - $135,000 (actual pay will depend on skills, experience, education, certifications, and Webster, MA location).
  • Some roles may be eligible for commission or bonus compensation per the client’s compensation plan.
