Position Overview
Confidential client is hiring a Software Engineer - Growth Infrastructure to build the core systems that power expert acquisition, assessment, onboarding, and automated matching at scale. This role focuses on platform and tooling (not traditional marketing growth): outreach tooling, an AI-powered interviewer, assessment pipelines, onboarding flows, and the staffing pipeline that dispatches experts to projects. You will own systems end-to-end with strong operational ownership and a path to contributing to ML-driven recommendation systems.
- Location: San Francisco, CA
- Employment type: Full-time
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the expert marketplace infrastructure: outreach, interviewing (including AI interviewer), assessments, and onboarding tooling.
- Design and implement the hiring and staffing platform where experts are onboarded, managed, and matched to projects.
- Replace manual workflows with automations and internal tools that increase operational throughput for the growth team.
- Partner closely with growth and operations associates to identify bottlenecks, instrument funnels, and ship high-leverage improvements quickly.
- Evolve platform capabilities toward ML-driven recommendation systems that predict expert needs for new projects and help automate staffing.
- Own components end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of professional experience as a Full-Stack Software Engineer (or equivalent experience building production systems).
- Proven track record of building features or systems end-to-end with a strong bias for ownership and operational excellence.
- Proficient in Node.js or Python in production environments.
- Experience with Kubernetes and deploying/operating containerized services.
- Practical experience building internal tools, automation, or production pipelines that replaced manual processes.
- Comfortable working directly with non-engineering stakeholders (growth/operators) to define and measure success.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. Demonstrable alternatives (significant relevant experience, portfolio, or internships) will be considered.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience at a high-growth VC-backed startup, a marketplace, or growth infrastructure team.
- Experience building or operating marketplace systems, staffing platforms, or recommendation pipelines.
- Familiarity with Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch (or similar streaming, caching, and search technologies).
- Experience working on human-data / AI operational products (e.g., data collection, interviews, human-in-the-loop systems).
- Demonstrated experience building or shipping ML-driven or data-driven product features is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $250,000 - $300,000 / Year (range provided for transparency in accordance with state law).
- Competitive benefits and equity may be offered by the confidential client; final package depends on experience and location.
- Additional benefits (health, retirement, paid time off) are administered by the hiring organization and will be discussed during the interview process.
Location & Hiring Details
- Work location: San Francisco, CA (onsite or hybrid arrangements are determined by the confidential client).
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- The confidential client is committed to an inclusive hiring process; reasonable accommodations are available upon request.
