What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, modernize, test, and support ERP software used by customers across manufacturing, distribution, and horticulture domains. You will convert legacy ERP functionality into modern web-based applications, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality software that improves customer workflows.

  • Develop, test, and deploy software enhancements and bug fixes for the ERP platform
  • Modernize legacy applications into web and mobile technologies
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies: standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives
  • Perform peer code reviews and assist with QA/testing efforts
  • Contribute to software design, architecture discussions, and technical planning
  • Build, maintain, and support modules such as Financial Management, Purchasing, Inventory, Sales & Order Management, Production & Crop Management, Logistics & Shipping, Reporting & Analytics, Data Integrations, and Import/Export utilities
  • Provide technical support for escalated issues from Support and Consulting teams
  • Participate in an on-call rotation (with manager approval) for after-hours support when needed
  • Communicate technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Partner with Product Management and customer stakeholders to validate requirements and improve usability and workflow efficiency
  • Create technical documentation, testing scenarios, and functional specifications for releases
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and apply AI-assisted tools where appropriate

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Accounting Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Experience developing or supporting ERP or business applications (highly preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes and translate requirements into technical solutions

Skills & Technologies

  • JavaScript
  • Servoy (or demonstrated ability to learn niche platforms quickly)
  • GitHub and/or SVN (version control)
  • Experience with data import/export and integrations
  • Familiarity with accounting or financial systems is strongly preferred
  • Willingness to use or evaluate AI tools to assist with modernization and repetitive tasks
  • Exposure to Progress/ABL or similar legacy technologies is a plus

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Background in horticulture, manufacturing, or industrial automation domains
  • Prior ERP modernization or product conversion experience
  • Experience with reporting & analytics tooling and data integrations
  • Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning skills

  • Location: Grand Rapids, MI (onsite / hybrid expectations will be defined by the hiring manager)
