What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer to design, build, test, and maintain mission-focused software systems. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle and work closely with systems engineers, DevOps, and mission stakeholders to deliver secure, high-quality solutions.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and systems based on customer requirements
  • Participate in requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance phases of the SDLC
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code across supported languages and platforms
  • Conduct and participate in code reviews, unit and integration testing, and troubleshooting to ensure software quality
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, DevOps, and stakeholders to integrate software into larger systems and platforms
  • Recommend and implement enhancements or optimizations to improve system performance and maintainability
  • Ensure software adheres to security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, DoD, RMF, STIGs)
  • Maintain technical documentation including design specifications, user guides, and system diagrams
  • Support deployment, version control, and configuration management processes
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends relevant to defense and space systems

Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to work in a secure, mission-driven environment.

  • Strong programming experience in one or more of: Java, C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Scala
  • Experience with modern frameworks and stacks such as Spring, .NET, React, Angular, Node.js, Bootstrap
  • Familiarity with IDEs and tools: IntelliJ, Eclipse, Visual Studio, VS Code, PyCharm, NetBeans
  • Comfortable with Linux, Unix, Windows, and macOS development environments
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Proficient with version control systems such as Git (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, GitLab CI)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with build/automation tools (Maven, Gradle, Ant) and scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall)
  • Experience with collaboration and issue-tracking tools like JIRA and Confluence
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks: NIST SP 800-53, DoD STIGs, RMF, ICD 503

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as AWS Developer Associate, Microsoft Azure Developer, Security+, or CKAD
  • Prior experience developing software for defense, intelligence community, or other highly regulated environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary teams supporting complex system integration

Required Security Clearance

  • Active Top Secret / SCI with Full Scope Polygraph is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
